What I’ll Do On My Summer Non-Vacation

Two years ago, I started writing The Marann. Little did I know where that would take me! Currently, I’m revising the third book, The Fall, to reflect the changes I made for the Sky Warrior edition of Daughters of Suralia. It’s a lot more work than I thought it would be, and I’ve already added two entire chapters to the first quarter of the book. I’m hoping the changes will lessen about halfway through. I can tell you that The Fall is Laura’s story, with more about the political story arc folded in for good measure. In The Marann, you found out that Central Command wants to get its hands on Marianne; in Daughters of Suralia, you found out why. In The Fall, you’ll see developments in Tolar’s relations with the humans, plus more interprovincial politicking.

And that’s all I can say about that.

I kicked off the summer, if you can call late May summer (I think of it as spring), by going to MisCon 28, an SF/F/H con in Missoula, Montana. Last year I went alone; this year I dragged The Husband along. We had a blast. The panels were great, equal parts because of the panelists and because of great audience questions and participation — even in the morning. I did have mobility issues (SH, aka Stupid Hip, was acting up), but other than that, it couldn’t have been better.

Next month, I’ve got two cons — Detcon1 (Detroit, MI), the NASFic, on July 17-20, and Confluence (Pittsburgh) on July 25-27. That might sound crazy, but I live in Pittsburgh. The con hotel is an easy drive. On both of these cons, I’m on the programming.

And that will be my summer vacation. All the while, I’ll be working on The Fall. Currently, I can’t predict when I’ll be done with that, but when I am, I might have a Sooper Sekrit Projekt possibility. Stay tooned!
